Parent Click has been in Las Vegas for almost a decade and our Editor Moms, Jami and Lydia, have gotten to know many fantastic small business that are no longer open.  It isn't because the businesses weren't great, it's simply a lack of exposure.  A newer movement called Small Business Saturday taking place on the Saturday after Black Friday seeks to give a hand to local small businesses while offering Las Vegas shoppers an alternative to the Big Box stores.

Small Business Saturday encourages people to shop their community small business in an effort to keep holiday shopping dollars in the community.  When you shop locally $45 of every $100 dollars will remain in the community, vs just $14 when you spend the same $100 at a national chain.  Shopping locally is also better for the environment, creates jobs ( small business creates more jobs than international companies) and small business owners are generally more involved and knowledgeable about their products and certainly more invested in your satisfaction with your purchase.
